ID: Q189229

The information in this article applies to:

Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server version 4.5

SUMMARY

This article describes the procedure for adding Microsoft Office 2000 Professional to the list of programs you can install with the Setup Computer Wizard included with BackOffice Small Business Server (SBS). For the following procedure to work, you must first purchase Office 2000 Professional with the same number of licenses as the SBS computer.

MORE INFORMATION
To enable the Setup Computer Wizard to install Office 2000 Professional on client computers:

bullet Using the SBS console, make a share named CD1, at Sbserver\Clientapps\Ms\Office\Cd1,
and another named CD2, at Sbserver\Clientapps\Ms\Office\Cd2.

bullet Make an administrative install from a workstation, as it needs to use a network path.

bullet Remove the existing Office 2000 CD1 files (Microsoft Outlook 2000) from the server. To do this, delete the CD1 folder from Sbserver\Clientapps\Ms\Office, where sbserver is the name of the SBS computer.

bullet Insert CD1 for Office 2000 and perform an administrative installation of Office 2000 CD1. To do this, type

d:\setup /a,

where d is the drive letter of the CD-ROM containing Office 2000 CD1.

bullet Type your company name and the correct CD Key from the Office 2000 CD-ROM.

bullet Accept the End User License Agreement.

bullet Change the installation location to Sbserver\Clientapps\Ms\Office\Cd1, where sbserver is the name of the SBS computer.

NOTE: You must install Office 2000 CD1 in this directory, or the Setup Computer Wizard does not install Office 2000.

bullet After Setup has completed, click Finish, and then remove Office 2000 CD1.

Do the same for CD2, putting it in the ...Office\CD2 directory.

bullet Go to the Smallbusiness directory on the system drive and rename the following files:

Scw.ini to Scw.no
Scw.o to Scw.ini

bullet Go to the Smallbusiness\Template directory on the system drive and rename the following files:

Clioc.inf to Clioc.no
Clioc.o to Clioc.inf

After you finish these steps, you can use the Setup Computer Wizard to set up new client computers and then install Office 2000 CD1 and CD2 on each client.

NOTE: If Outlook 2000 is already installed on the client computers, you must manually uninstall it prior to installing the full Office 2000 suite. If you do not remove Outlook 2000, users may be unable to add additional features and components to Outlook.
